Debra Brown

Debra Brown
Debra Brown spent 17 years in prison for a murder she did not commit. She was convicted in 1995 of murdering her friend and employer, Lael Brown, who was found shot to death in his home in Logan, Utah. In 2009, with the assistance of co-counsel at Snell & Wilmer, RMIC filed a petition for a finding of factual innocence on Ms. Brown’s behalf, based on evidence pointing to a different perpetrator and evidence establishing that the crime occurred at a time when Ms. Brown could not have committed it. In 2011, Utah Second District Court Judge Michael DiReda declared Ms. Brown factually innocent and ordered her release from prison.
